The best beaches in Mojácar (and coves)

The beaches and coves of Mojacar are, together with the protected natural areas it has, the main attraction of this town in Almeria, located on the shores of the Mediterranean. The diversity of its beaches and coves, partly thanks to its 17 kilometers of coastline, offers both attractive areas for family tourism and more secluded areas, dedicated to those who want to give these sites a more naturist use.

Anyway, and although the area has some of the best beaches in Almeria, you can not overlook its historical attraction. Among the most remarkable places in the area, and before we review the best beaches in Mojacar, you can not forget to visit sites such as La Fuente Mora, the town hall or the Church of Santa Maria, among others.

Mojacar is by no means all that the beaches of Almeria have to offer, but it is one of the most remarkable areas. The beaches of Huelva, which together with the beaches of Cadiz make up the Costa de la Luz, are some of the outstanding destinations that could serve as an alternative.

Blue flag beaches in Mojacar

Mojácar has 5 beaches awarded with the Blue Flag, which ensures that they meet a minimum of services and requirements. These 4 beaches, as you can imagine, are the most suitable for family use, and the most comfortable in general (they are close to the most urban areas and the sand is usually medium or fine-grained). However, and as you can imagine, they are far from being all that this small town has to offer, thanks in part to its beautiful coves, which we will talk about later.

El Palmeral Beach

Located in a residential area, it is one of the quietest beaches in the area, due in part to its length (1500m long). The medium grain sand provides comfort, being one of the most familiar beaches of Mojacar.

Descargador Beach

With almost a kilometer long, it is one of the busiest beaches in the city, with a medium occupancy rate. Its sand is of medium grain.

Marina de la Torre Beach

One of the most extensive of Mojacar, with one of the highest occupancy rates in the city. Again, it has a medium-grained sand that is perfect for recreational use.

Piedra Villazar Beach

It owes its name to the famous stone Villazar, located in an area of the beach and stuck in the sand naturally. As it usually happens with blue flag beaches, it is perfect for family vacations.

Cueva de Lobo Beach

Again, another beach that owes its name to a specific element of the beach. In this case, the name comes from one of the first buildings that was built in the area, which was eventually copied because of its originality.
