The beach of Barinatxe is embraced by beautiful cliffs full of vegetation, they form a beach of fine golden sand that are always accompanied by a strong wind and waves of immense bravery, hence it is known by the name of La Salvaje. Near the town of Sopela and Getxo, is one of the best known and frequented by both tourists and locals, as it is endowed with an idyllic landscape and where you can practice all kinds of sports, either by land, sea and air.
It is divided in 2 zones, the West zone (Larrabasterra) that is the zone where it is usually frequented by nudists, and the East zone (Peñatxuri) that is the zone where it has all the services that this beach offers us like bar-chiringuito, terraces, bathrooms, changing rooms etc… When the sun sets, this area is usually filled with a young atmosphere, because the terraces usually last until late at night offering an alternative plan for those people who want it.
Although it is a fairly large beach, compared to others in the Basque Country, it is usually crowded especially in summer, as it has a wide range of sports activities such as paragliding and surfing, due to its strong waves and strong gusts of wind. Nearby there are 2 surf schools, with which you can get started if you are still a novice and enjoy a fun day in the water. On the other hand, at the top of the cliffs there are specific sites for the practice of the other sport that reigns in this beach, Paragliding, where you can enjoy indescribable views of the entire Cantabrian coast.
It is certainly a beach more than recommended to visit and spend the day there surrounded by friends, family or our partner, where children can also have fun playing in the sand to shovels, very common in this area, or beach volleyball. Above all they will have a lot of fun in the sea, playing jumping waves, where we will have to be especially careful and vigilant as it is a beach where the green flag is rarely present.
