Where is and how to get to Mal Paso Beach in Rosarito?
Below we will explain how to get to Mal Paso Beach from San Diego and from Tijuana, and below is an interactive map to make it easier for you to find your way if you are coming from somewhere else.
- San Diego: You can take a bus or cab to the Otay Mesa border crossing and cross into Mexico on foot. It will probably take you an hour or so to cross the border. Once you have done the crossing process (which is easy), turn left at the first traffic light on Mexican soil and continue for about 20 minutes until you reach Playa Del Mar (it is just before La Bufadora). Take another left at Playa Del Mar and continue until you see the signs for Playa Mal Paso about 30 minutes later (total travel time from San Diego is about 2 hours).
- Tijuana: You can also get here by taking the buses that go directly from downtown Tijuana to the Rosarito beaches every hour or so for about $4 each way; these buses leave right in front of the Hotel California in downtown TJ on Calle Sexta between Avenida Revolucion and Monserrat. The trip takes about 45 minutes depending on traffic conditions along Avenida Revolucion, so plan accordingly. It should cost between $5-$10 USD total including transfers if using this method instead of any of the above.
