Granma is one of the provinces of Cuba, located in the middle east of the country, with a total area of 11,717.1 km². It is made up of ten municipalities, and its capital is Bayamo. The province is bordered by the province of Las Tunas to the north, by the Caribbean Sea to the south, Oriente and Camagüey to the west. The name of the province was given in honor of the boat that took the Castro brothers to Cuba, and in which they departed from Mexico to start the Revolution.
