Past the urbanization Somocuevas, town of Liencres, there is a magnificent geological formation. A thick wall of rock that juts out into the ocean. Behind this beach, a cliff as an isthmus connects the rock with the Cantabrian coast. Under the feet of this natural link we have two fantastic beaches, Somocuevas Beach on its western side, and Arnía Beach on its eastern side.
Somocuevas Beach is the longest of the two shores that make up the isthmus, ideal for enjoying the mid-morning sun and beautiful sunsets while bathing in its waters. A quiet place even during the holiday season. The sandy beach that rests between the rocks is composed mainly of fine golden sands. The site also offers panoramic views of the Cantabrian coast, for it is necessary to make a little physical effort and climb the rocks to reach the top of the platform. There the landscape opens before our eyes, a viewpoint that shows us the immensity of the Cantabrian coast. Among the activities that we can do in this fantastic place are nudism and the highly recommended practice of diving.
Like the beach of Arnía its access can be complicated. Its long wooden stairs that descend to the sand can be a problem. It is not a beach adapted for people with limited mobility or any kind of handicap. It should be added that there is no parking area as such, but you have to park on the side of the road Bo. la Casera.
