Muriola Beach in Bilbao: Information, Webcam, Weather and Map
Muriola Beach, also known as La Cantera, since it was artificially created by siliceous sand from a nearby quarry, hence the name by which it is colloquially known by the locals. This wild sandy area protected by huge and beautiful cliffs, is located 10′ from the town of Barrika, belonging to the region of Uribe.
As we can see, from this small beach where nudism is allowed, we have incredible views where we can see the bay of Plentzia on the horizon. It is an ideal location to come at sunset and let yourself be carried away by this combination of sea and mountain that presents this beach. Although it will be necessary to take special care when the tide rises, since the width of its beach is reduced from 60 meters to 20 meters.
The natural setting in which we are, is a perfect place to spend the day with family or with our partner as it is a beach little crowded by tourists, although each time it is becoming a little more crowded because it became famous for appearing in the 5th chapter of season 7 of the famous series Game of Thrones. This series so popularly known, chose many scenarios of this community for many of its shootings.
Si venimos a esta playa a pasar el día nos tendremos que venir preparados de alimentos y agua, ya que no cuenta con paseo marítimo ni con ningún tipo de servicios como bar/chiringuito. Esta zona se conoce tradicionalmente por ser el refugio de embarcaciones, que con un fuerte oleaje y con unas condiciones climatológicas adversas, no podían superar la barra del puerto de Plentzia. Cabe destacar que es una playa que se convierte casi en inaccesible y peligrosa cuando sube la marea, ya que la anchura de la playa se ve reducida en un 70%.
