Located in Getxo next to the Churruca Pier and near the Bizkaia Bridge that communicates with Portugalete, the Playa de las Arenas one of the most emblematic places in the province, as it is considered a World Heritage Site, is located just 13 km from the capital Bilbao. This beach has good combinations to reach it whether we do it by car, as if we do it by bus or metro, the nearest metro stop is the stop of Areeta.
Next to the Bizkaia Bridge, commonly called Portugalete Bridge, is located the closest beach to the urban center of Bilbao, the Playa de las Arenas, as you can see it is a fairly urbanized beach, with plenty of services, easy access and of course very good communications with both parking and public transport lines. Therefore if we are looking for comfort and not having to move a lot to take a dip, the Playa de las Arenas is the perfect choice.
This beach is ideal if we want to spend a quiet day with the family, as it is usually not very crowded and has all kinds of services around. In the vicinity of the same, we have a maritime club of great tradition, as it is a popular area for water sports. Near this beach is the School of Jose Luis Ugarte, famous sailor of Getxo.
This beach area has a promenade with countless catering services where you can taste the best gastronomy of the Basque Country, such as pintxos or bacalao. It is also a perfect area to watch the sunset next to the pier and enjoy a wonderful evening stroll with your family or partner.
