The Estacahuite Beach in Oaxaca

Estacahuite beach in Oaxaca is one of my favorite beaches. It is not very crowded and the water is cold, but it is a great place to relax and enjoy nature.

What to do in Estacahuite Beach in Oaxaca?

Estacahuite beach is not a typical tropical beach, but it has its charm. The water is cold and the sand is brown, with rocks at the bottom. There are no chairs or umbrellas for rent, so bring your own towel to sit on the ground. Estacahuite also lacks amenities such as showers and food stands…. but there are plenty of places nearby where you can get food or drinks if you wish!

Playa Estacahuite

Although there are no lifeguards or security cameras or staff, the beach is very safe. There is a strong sense of community among the locals, who will look out for you if they see anything unusual. In addition, the local police patrol the access road to the village and will respond if you call or alert them if you see anything suspicious in Estacahuite Bay.

The best time of year to visit Estacahuite Beach depends on the type of experience you’re looking for: if you’re hoping for calm waters and warm weather, then the summer months of July through October might be ideal; however, if surfing high waves sounds like more fun, then consider making plans between late winter and early spring, when storms are more likely to hit this region of Mexico often enough that they won’t interfere with your fun day at sea.
